Awards Season!
I am so honoured to be recognised for two awards this year. First up is the HiStyle Awards in Cork, 19th October, followed by the Image Awards on 24th of November.
This recognition within the industry means a lot, so thank you to all that have voted so far.
The Rae Clinic is special to me, as I hope it is to you. It's a part of my family as much as any other member, and has been from the very beginning when choosing its name. For those of you who don't already know, Rae is a family name on my mother's side. As well as reminding me of family, it feels like brightness and sunshine - I think sums up most of what is special to me. It is also the ethos of the clinic. I would not treat any patient any differently than I would my family. If a treatment is not right for them, then it is not right for you.
To thank you all for taking the time to vote (and you can vote as many times a day as you would like). I am running a competition on Instagram. Once you have voted, drop a note in the comment section and your name will be included in the draw. Voting ends November 1st.
The prize includes a full skin care consultation, Obagi blue radiance peel and one free product of your choice.
What's New?
A new toxin launched in the clinic. Over the last two years, there has been lots of hype on this side of things and most new products have fallen flat in my experience.
Why am I excited about this one? It's not new, it's just new to Ireland. It has been available in the US and UK for several years but has only recently been licenced for use in Ireland.
They are also one of the few companies to run extensive clinical trials - it may shock you to know a lot goes to market without this data.
I was lucky to be the first clinic in Ireland to recieve the new product and I am looking forward to hearing all your feedback.
I will, of course, still have all the old reliables in stock!
Prescription Peel - Perfect Skin
Firstly, what is a peel and what benefits can it have?
When many people think of peels, many think of poor
Samantha in Sex and the City. This, however, is not the reality - most moderate to light peels have very little downtime, with radiant results.
As the name suggests, chemicals are applied to target any skin complaints you may have. We use chemical peels, which penetrate the skin, targeting and treating sun damage and ageing, acne scarring, pigmentation, uneven skin tone and texture, redness, and rosacea, fine lines, and wrinkles.
The science - The top layer of your skin is made up of dead skin cells. You shed these every 7 to 21 days on average. If they are sitting on top of your skin, they can make the skin dry and dull, while also preventing any active ingredients in your skin care routine from penetrating. By reducing the thickness of this layer, you can find your skin is smoother, better hydrated and radiant.
Single ingredients of different strengths or combinations can then be used for a targeted approach.
Illumi Facial - this combines the benefits of IPL (see last months newsletter with a targeted chemical peel for ultimate rejuvenation). Excellent in particular for skin rejuvenation or pigmentation.
The benefits include:
• Improve the overall tone and texture of your skin
• Lighten and brighten your skin
• Remove or reduce sun damage and age spots
• Reduce pore size and soften fine lines and wrinkles
• Reduce or eliminate hyperpigmentation and acne scars
What to expect:
• First, an assessment of the skin and a deep cleanse
• Some heat and tingling while the peel is on the skin
• Soothing gels and serums
• A little redness post treatment for some deeper peels - never lasting more than a few hours
• Depending on skin concerns, a course of two to six peels may be needed
