Important Dates To Consider

As most of you will know, wrinkle-relaxing - Botox takes weeks to take effect. It is important to take this into account when scheduling your Christmas appointments - you don't want to leave it too late! Some may wish to have it in prior to this as you may prefer it as it wears off - all down to personal preference.

If you haven't had treatment previously but would like to get started, then book today and don't delay. There are many many options. I would like to take the time to talk you through these and have the treatment prior to Christmas.

Important Dates

06/12: Anti-Wrinkle Treatment: Before 6th Dec to have full effect

13/12: Dermal Filler will not be carried out after 13th Dec (to prevent bruising or complications, I do not do this treatment the last week before closing)

20/12: Holidays: The clinic will be closed from 20/12 until 14/01. Please take this into consideration when scheduling treatments.

Profhilo: For optimal results, this should be done 3 or 4 weeks before you would like full effects

Reviews: Any toxin treatment after the 6th Dec cannot avail of review because of the clinic being closed for Christmas and New Year.

A Little Bit Of Science

Apologies to those who have heard me say this before, with marketing I know some people see chemicals and this leads to fear - if that is you please read the next part, It aims to highlight many marketing claims in the cosmetic industry, which lead to misconceptions around powerful and important ingredients.

• What bothers me most and doesn't make sense "marketing term" is "chemical free".

What does this even mean - Every form of matter is a chemical. Water (H20), - A CHEMICAL - is the basis for most creams, cosmetics, injectables, and even food.

We eat, breath and sleep chemicals. Literally everything around us is made up of chemicals.

The words 'chemical-free' on the label of a skincare product can give the impression to the consumer that natural ingredients are better.

Firstly, all natural ingredients are chemicals (see above). But most importantly, the source of the ingredient doesn't tell you much about its safety, sustainability and efficacy. Naturally sourced ingredients can for example be very irritating to the skin. While for (bio) synthetic ingredients safety substantiation is much easier.

Both natural and synthetic sourced ingredients can be polluting for the planet. It is important (regardless of the type) to fully understand the impact of it on the planet and manage this responsibly.

• Another fear mongering marketing trend is the "free from" claims on packaging. Free from implies that the ingredients these products are "free from" must be bad, that they are unsafe and that products with these ingredients are best avoided.

The problem is not necessary that a brand chooses not to use these ingredients. The problem is that they give a bad reputation and create fear mongering around these ingredients.

Ingredients such as sulphates, parabens, and silicones are some of the most studied and powerful cosmetic ingredients and will easily result in effective and safe cosmetic products. That's why so many brands formulate with them. Unless you have a specific allergy in small quantities these are exceptionally safe.
